Answer any three questions from each section
SECTION-A
1. a. Define statistics with its application in fisheries. Briefly discuss population and sample 5
with example. b. What do you mean by variable? Define different types of variables with example.

c. Discuss frequency distribution, inclusive method and exclusive method of frequency distribution. How can we construct frequency distribution from a raw data?
2. a. What is central tendency? State the characteristics of an ideal measure of central 3 tendency.
b. Discuss different measures of central tendencies. 6 c. For two non-zero positive observations, show that AM 2GM2 HM, where AM, GM 6
and HM have usual meanings.

3. a. Define dispersion of data. Why do we need measures of dispersion?
b. Write down different measures of dispersion known to you. Define: mean deviation and 6 co-efficient of variation. State under which situation coefficient of variation (cv) is used.
