Gitanjali with 157 hymns was first published in August 1910 (Bhadra, 1317 BC), from Santiniketan Library. Rabindranath Tagore advertises (quoted below) under the signature 'Shri Rabindranath 'Tagore'.

The first few songs of this book have been previously published in two other books. But all the songs which have been composed after a short period of time, considering it possible to have some kind of unity among themselves, all of them were brought out together in this book.

English Song Offerings (Gitanjali) first published by the Indian Society in London in 1912 - taken from Bengali Gitanjali. 53 songs. The remaining 54 of the total of 103 compiled in Song Offerings (Gitanjali) selected 16 from Gitimalya, 15 from Naivedya, 11 from Kheya, 3 from Shishu, 1 from Kalpana, 1 from Chaitali, 1 from Usarga, 1 from Remembrance and 1 from Achalayatana.
